When there had been polygamy, Islam was present to restrict rather than to let men indulge their desires, even to tie this practice with a fair rule. If the polygamy is not performed fairly, there will no permission for it. Thus, the permission is granted in accordance with the human nature, for keeping people's natural needs and avoiding them from being out of control. This condition will protect the lives of husbands and wifes from the destruction and damage, protect wifes from tyranny and persecution, protect the honor and dignity of women from humiliation, and ensure fairness in the fulfillment of the natural human needs. Islam had come and spoken for men that there are limits that should not be passed by in polygamy, that is, the number of wives must not more than four. And there is also the condition that is fairness to all wives. If fairness cannot be done, then man is only allowed to marry one woman.ifa.
