Within contemporary Islamic studies, gender issues are one of the most important issues that became more and more intensively discussed. The discussion relates to almost all aspects and sectors in life. Women are frequently viewed as 'the second human' that are inferior to men. This perception brings 'limitation' to women's life. In fact, many still believe that women are disasters and scorn in this life. It is not merely socio cultural beliefs that influences the construction on how people perceive women, but also is gender biased religion interpretation. Islam, as many found in classical tafsir or quranic exegesis, is still believed by many as placing women inferior to men. Consequently, the gender biased quranic exegesis also plays role in legitimating women marginalization within society.
