This article will elaborate the role of Islamic higher education in human resource development at the era of local autonomy. Islamic higher education has an important role in Human Resource Development [HRD], especially at the era of local autonomy. In Indonesia, majority of population is Muslim, so that the mean of human resource development is to increase the capacity of muslim its self in all aspects. In East Java, there are many institutions of Islamic higher education, which have many contributions to HRD. For that, in order to strengthening the contribution of Islamic higher education at the era of the local autonomy, there are many strategies: 1) to create brand image about the capacity of Islamic higher education in human resource development, 2) to make the Islamic higher education as an exellence institution, 3) to built networking with otherinstitutions to develop programs, especially in human resource development.yo.
