Pancasila as an ideology comes out of the synthetical thought between communism and capitalism. Instead of holding these last last two mentionedideologies, Soekarno as the initiator of Pancasila develops an alternative ideology which can accommodate the broad variety of ethnics and religions in Indonesia. Notwithstanding the adherence of the majority of population to Islam, other religions such as Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism are still legally recognised and guaranteed to develop. Central to this is the intimate connection between Pancasila and Islam. While factually differing in origin, both can be seen as having in common the substance and essence in coming to terms with social realities. This commonality can be found in aspect of divinity, humanity, unity, deliberation and social justice, as suggested by the five principles of Pancasila and the interpretation of the Chapter al Fatihah.yo.
