The study attempts to convive that Soekarno was not 'sigle-faced'man. The proclamar, whose life was cloaked in mystery and controversy, used to actually has a close relationship with one of the Indonesian Islamic reformers, A. Hasan who himself was the leader of PERSIS. His closeness to the figure had made him become closes to and acquainted with Islam more comprehensively. It had aspecially happened when he was exiled to Ende Flores. Soekarno had since arrived at conclusions that; 1. No religion other than Islam that emphasis equality, 2. No religion other that Islam that is more moderate and more rational and 3. Islam a progressive religion. On account of the ideas, the writer proposes that Soekarno deserved to be considerent al Suyutiy one of the Indonesian reformers of the Islamic thought. syur.
